Chicken curry cooked in traditional odia way....Its a little high calorific recipe....
INGREDIENTS:
- Chicken-500 gm.
- Potato-2 medium size(wash,peel & cut into cube shape).
- Finely Chopped onion-5.
- Paste(20-garlic cloves+2 piece of ginger+some cumin seeds+6-red chili+1 medium size tomato).
- Curd-3 tsp.
- Bay leaves-2.
- Sugar-1 tsp.
- Red chili powder-1 tsp.
- Turmeric powder-1 tsp.
- Garam masala-1 tsp.
- Mustard oil-8 tsp.
- Salt to taste.
Pre-cooking:
- Clean well the chicken pieces & marinate with salt,turmeric powder,curd & 1 tsp mustard oil,keep aside 10-12 min.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan,add potato cubes,fry it till golden brown in color,keep aside.
- Again add remaining oil in same pan,add sugar for adding color in curry,when sugar turns golden brown,add bay leaves & chopped onion into it,when onion turns golden brown in color,add mixed paste,stir it.
- Add turmeric powder & red chili powder,mix well,add little water,when the water dries out & oil begins to appear from out of the masala,add marinated chicken.
- Mix it properly,stir it continuously 10-15 min.Then add fried potato & 2 cup water in to it,cover the lid,let the gravy boil 5-10 min.
- Open the lid,sprinkle some garam masala on the top & take off the fire.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves,serve hot with steamed rice/roti.
