Dahi bhendi(Okra/ladies finger with yogurt/curd)......

Its a south Indian dish..                

INGREDIENTS:    


  • Bhendi/okra/ladies finger-10-12.

  • Chopped tomato-2(medium size).

  • Chopped onion-1.

  • Curd(whisked)-1/2 cup.

  • Cumin seed-1 tsp.

  • Mustard seed-1 tsp.

  • Red chili powder-1 tsp.

  • Turmeric powder-1 tsp.

  • Urad dal-1 tsp.

  • Red chili-2.

  • Curry leaves-10-12.

  • Refined oil-3 tbsp.

  • Salt to taste.

To be ground into a paste:


  • Grated coconut-1/2 cup+broken cashew nut(kaju)-2 tbsp.

PREPARATION:


  • Wash & clean the bhendi,cut it into big size pieces.Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan,fry the bhendi to avoid stickiness without changing its beautiful green color & keep aside...
  • Heat oil in the same pan,add cumin seed+mustard seed+urad dal. when it crackle add broken red chili & curry leaves.then add chopped onion,stir till it golden brown in color.
  • Add tomato,chili powder,turmeric powder,ground paste & salt.fry till oil comes out from the sides
  • Add curd+1 cup of water to the mixture,add fried bhendi & cook for 2-3 min.
  • Delicious "Dahi bhendi" is ready to serve.
